This is my first official story on Tokkiscenarios, so I hope you guys enjoy it. Constructive criticism is welcome~
Updates will be sporadic at the moment. We’re doing our best to get more stories written, so that we can return to publishing a story a week, but we’re not quite there yet. Just so you guys know :)

“We haven’t been here in ages. I’m really excited, I haven’t had their special pasta in so long! What about you?”
“I can’t wait,” You answered, doing your best to smile for your boyfriend. To be honest, you wanted nothing more than to curl up in your bed right now, but Daehyun didn’t need to know that.
He paused in the middle of opening the restaurant doors, staring at you with a concerned look on his face. Something about you seemed…off. “Is everything okay? Do you not want to eat here?”
You shook your head stubbornly as you walked through the opened entrance. “You wanted to eat here, so we’re eating here. Or do you not want that pasta of yours?”
“No, I do!! Ah, it’s soooo good!! I can taste it already!”
You laughed as your boyfriend began to ramble on and on about his restaurant favorite; he always had a bit of a one-track mind when it came to food. Even as a waiter led to your table, Daehyun was still babbling about it. Which was fine by you because you weren’t in the most talkative mood right now.
It had just not been your week. You had three papers due in the span of two days and a presentation the day after that; crazy, but nothing you couldn’t handle. That was, if everyone hadn’t suddenly decided that you were the Buddha reincarnated. The entire week had been filled with frantic phone calls and emotional breakdowns over lunch, and while you loved your friends dearly, you really, really didn’t want to deal with any more of their problems right now. You were tired and overworked and in dire need of chocolate ice cre—
“Jagiya? You ready?”
“Huh?” You blinked, focusing back on Daehyun’s face. His eyes were shifting from you to the body beside your table, and it was only then you realized that the waiter had returned.
“Miss, are you ready to order?”
“Oh! Oh, sorry! I’ll…um…I’ll have the special, please. And some water,” You smiled apologetically as you handed your menu to the waiter, who took note of your order and disappeared as quickly as he came.
“Well, that was embarrassing.”
“Shut up! You didn’t even warn me!”
“I did! You were totally spacing out!” whined Daehyun before pouting, “I didn’t know I was that boring.”
Normally, there would be a witty remark on the tip of your tongue, but not tonight. Your mind was just too drained for anything right now. Instead, you chuckled weakly, reaching for your glass of water. “So how are promotions going? Are you guys managing okay without Himchan oppa?”
“They’re going okay, but I can never get used to the formation for five. We made it for six, you know? It doesn’t feel right with five,” Daehyun shook his head before letting out a loud laugh. “I think Hyung is enjoying this a little too much though. You know he told us to give him a foot massage the other day?”
“And oh my gosh, his feet! I don’t think I’ve ever smelled anything so bad! We had to play Kai-Bai-Bo like five times because no one wanted to do it! Hyung better enjoy this while it lasts because the doctor says that he’s almost healed. He should be out of the cast by the time our Pacific tour comes around—did I tell you about that?”
“I think I saw it online actua—”
“I’m really excited, but it’s so tiring to travel for so long! Jagiya, do you think Manager Kang will let us go out and explore America since we’ll be there for almost two weeks? We always end up ordering room service, but I want to try burgers at a real American restaurant! They always look so good! It’s just not fair!”
You had forgotten just how talkative Daehyun could be. He was already a naturally chatty person, but his talkative nature always seemed to intensify whenever the two of you were separated for extended periods of time. He was always so excited to catch you up on things at TS, but that also meant that he could go on for days. You would usually be fascinated by his tales because, let’s be honest, they were much more interesting than papers or your job, but you couldn’t handle being talked at any longer. Didn’t anybody care about how you were doing?
Lost in your own thoughts, you stopped paying attention to Daehyun’s various topic shifts. It wasn’t that you were trying to be rude, but you were just so done with everything and everyone right now. You just wanted to crawl into bed and sleep for eternity; was that too much to ask for?
Daehyun, on the other hand, continued rambling, oblivious to your overall silence, and he didn’t lose steam even when the waiter came by with your dinners. A fuller stomach probably fueled him on even more.
“And then Himchannie hyung ended up chasing Youngjae-yah around the parking lot for an entire hour,” he guffawed before finally realizing that you weren’t responding. Actually, you hadn’t said anything in a while. “Hey, what’s wrong? You usually love it when Youngjae trolls us.”
He was expecting you to snap out of your daydreams and become flustered again, but you only continued to mess with your food, twirling your pasta on your fork but not actually eating it.
“Jagi?” Daehyun blinked before continuing, a big grin blossoming on his face. “…I also have a confession. The guys and I…we actually are aliens. I was going to tell you eventually, but Jongup-ah accidentally blabbed to an undercover government official, so the entire secrets out. I’m sorry I lied to you this entire time.”
Again, no response. You just kept staring at your dinner.
“So we’re going to shave our heads and move to South America, where we’ll go into hiding as bunny farmers while searching for the magical four-leaf clover that will turn back time. I don’t know how long we’ll be gone, so this is when I say goodbye.”
So he was actually a bit proud of himself for that last part, but this was getting ridiculous, even for him.
“Helloooo? Anyone there?” called Daehyun, reaching across the table and waving a hand in front of your face. That seemed to break the spell because, as predicted, you stared wide-eyed at him.
“Huh, what? Did you say something?”
He couldn’t help but chuckle at this. You were always so cute when you were spacey, and this time wasn’t an exception. Well, almost.
“You know, at first, I thought it was because I was really boring, but then I realized that that couldn’t be it because I’m the most interesting person you know.”
Though confused as you were, you couldn’t help but snort. “Stop being delusional; it doesn’t look good on you.”
“Please, jagi, everything looks good on me.”
And it was true too, dammit. Defeated, you did the only thing you could think of and stuck a big forkful of pasta into your mouth. Yeah, real mature.
“Anyway, you’ve been out of it all dinner. That’s not like you at all. What’s up?” He leaned backwards, crossing his arms as he eyed you with intrigue. “And don’t tell me it’s nothing either.”
You chewed on your bottom lip, a nervous habit you’ve had since grade school. “It’s not that big of a deal.”
“But there’s a deal.”
“I’m just tired from classes, is all.”
“Is that really it?”
“Can we please talk about this later?”
“Why not now?”
“Please, Hyunnie, I don’t really want to talk about it now. Can I just finish so that we can go?”
“Why are you in such a hurry to leave all of a sudden?”
“Because I don’t want to be here!” And with that one phrase, it was as if you had unleashed a well of pent-up frustrations. You couldn’t stop. “What am I supposed to say?! Huh?! That I didn’t really want to go out tonight because I’m just so done with this week? That this week has been hell because of classes, but no one seems to care because all they do is vent to me about their problems? No one’s even thought to ask about how I’ve been! I get that I don’t get into much drama, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have a life. I still get stressed out too!
“And you know what, I’m so tired of being talked at. It feels like no one even cares about how I feel. I’m just done, so done right now. Hyunnie, I really wanted to spend time with you, but I just don’t want to be here if you’re going to complain like everyone else.”
Your chest was heaving as you leaned back and closed your eyes, doing your best to catch your breath. That really did a number on your lungs, though you had to admit that it felt great to get everything out of your system. There was just this sense of release that you hadn’t felt all week. Even though you were panting, it was like you could actually breathe freely now.
Your relief quickly turned to horror as you looked back at Daehyun, who was flagging down your waiter. “Wait, what are you doing?”
“Paying so we can leave.”
“What? Oh no, oh my goodness, Daehyun, I am so, so sorry.” Did you really just say all that to him? Did that really just happen? “I didn’t mean to say all that, it just all came out at once. We can stay! Really! I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to ruin our dinner.”
Daehyun suddenly stopped, hand hovering over the to-go box. “What? Jagi, you didn’t ruin anything. Sure, I wanted to go out, but not if you’re not up to it. We can always go out another time.”
“But you wanted to go out tonight…”
“What’s more important is that you’re okay. I know I talk a lot, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to know how you’re doing. If you’re feeling stressed because it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, then I want to know. You can tell me anything, remember? That’s why I’m your boyfriend,” he reached across the table and took your hand in his, running his thumb along your knuckles. “Though apparently, not a good one. I’m supposed to be helping you hold that weight up, but I just made it worse. I’m sorry for being a crappy boyfriend. I should have noticed sooner.”
You were stunned into silence as he finished paying and stood up, offering you his hand.
“C’mon, let’s go get you some ice cream.”
You couldn’t fight the genuine smile breaking out on your face. “And some cheesecake?”
“Of course,” he answered, a cheeky grin on his face, “We can buy a whole cake and pull out all the movies we’ve got at home! Tonight is going to be all about you!”
You laughed as he excitedly pulled you along. He might be a bit unobservant, but at least he knew how to cheer you up. A couple feet from the restaurant, you stopped and tugged on his hand. When he turned around, you pecked him on the lips. “And for the record, you’re not a crappy boyfriend. You’re wonderful.”
“Just don’t miss me too much while I’m raising bunnies in South America.”
